Sammy Sosa has no right to complain about Dusty Baker. This is a star player who virtually disappeared in the second half of the Cubs’ season. To me, he was a far larger betrayal to the Cubs’ postseason chances than any other player on the team. What kind of team player would leave the ballpark before his team’s final game was over?
He’s tired of being blamed for the Cubs’ failures, and I’m tired of watching him falter when it matters. I say take the $17 million he makes next year, sign some journeymen with decent bats and let Sosa fend for himself, just like he let the rest of the Cubs fend for themselves.
