The minimum number of people living in a household that made women significantly more likely to be obese, according to researchers at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, who surveyed 274 mostly young women attending a family planning clinic. Nearly half were considered obese.

AMONG WOMEN WHO WERE OBESE

52.8% Received no parental support.

42.7% Received some parental support.

64.8% Were living in households of four or more.

32.5% Were living alone.

44.7% Were living with one or two others.
