At a time when Gov. Rod Blagojevich is cutting funding for so many important programs, I was appalled to read about the half-million-dollar program in Illinois to raise and release pheasants for the sole purpose of a live target practice.
I don’t want my tax dollars being used to shoot birds that have been raised not to restore a native species but to be released with no chance of survival.
Send the money to one of the school systems whose referendum for additional tax money failed on Nov. 2.
