The Wolves couldn’t score until the third period and then ran out of time Friday night, losing, 3-1, to the St. John’s Maple Leafs.

It was the Wolves third consecutive loss.

Maple Leafs center Matt Stajan threw a pass to right wing Ben Ondrus at the top of the slot. Ondrus then wristed a shot past Wolves goaltender Kari Lehtonen for a 1-0 lead at 10:02 of the second period.

Kyle Wellwood squirted a shot under Lehtonen’s arm and into the net, giving the Leafs a 2-0 lead at 12:57 of the second period.

St. John’s opened up a 3-0 lead late in the second period on Harold Druken goal at 17:47.

The Wolves scored midway through the third period after their power-play unit worked the puck around the perimeter. Center Lonny Bohonos hit left wing Brad Larsen across the slot and Larsen fired a wrist shot into the net at 11:26.
