The music sensation that is Usher just keeps on chugging–he scored a leading five nominations Tuesday for the Soul Train Music Awards. Among the nods: best male R&B-soul album for “Confessions”; best male R&B-soul single for “Confession Part II”; and one for “My Boo,” his duet with Alicia Keys.
Ciara followed Usher with four nominations, including best female R&B-soul album for “Goodies” and best R&B-soul or rap by a new artist.
Keys, Prince, Beyonce, Destiny’s Child, Jill Scott and New Edition had two nods each. Chicago’s R. Kelly was nominated for best male R&B-soul album, and Kanye West showed up in the category for best R&B-soul or rap music video for “Jesus Walks.” The awards will be presented Feb. 28 in Hollywood.
