Dennis Byrne has expressed his concern for the well-being of women and their right to more information than he believes they are now receiving concerning the risks of abortion.

Preventing unwanted pregnancies in the first place is likely the best way to reduce the number of abortions.

I hope a future Byrne column will include vigorous support of federal funding for family planning. Once educated about all the ways it is possible to avoid becoming pregnant, women will be better able to make informed choices.

Furthermore the education of these same young women should include the facts about remaining pregnant. Statistics related to the likelihood of not finishing school and the probability of living in poverty when you give birth at age 15 would be relevant points to stress.
