I was disappointed by the Tribune’s decision to publish James Peleck’s letter, “Evolutionists demand a monopoly of ideas” (Voice of the people, Feb. 15). Peleck meekly states that creationists “only seek equal time.” No doubt it was a misguided devotion to this same principle that motivated the Tribune to publish his letter.
I will support equal time for creationism as soon as Peleck grants equal time for the theories that the Earth is flat, that the sun goes around the Earth and that the world is supported by four elephants riding on the back of a giant turtle–all of which have been steadfastly spouted by proponents of various religions throughout the ages, and none of which deserves any time whatsoever in 21st Century science classrooms.
