– Ford is facing an upgraded safety investigation of 2001 F-Series pickups, Windstar minivans and other vehicles recalled in 2001 to fix seat-belt flaws. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says more than 10,000 warranty claims involving buckles that continued to fail after they were repaired under a 2001 recall. Safety investigations can lead to recalls.

– NHTSA also is investigating 280,000 2000-02 Saturn L-Series cars. The agency has received almost 50 complaints that taillights can fail because of corrosion in an electrical circuit.
