Perhaps a huge reason the previous dollar coins were not accepted was that they feel and look like the quarter coins. A change of design seems obvious–squared edges, octagonal, larger size. It’s no wonder the public and businesses reject a coin that can be mistaken for a fourth of its value. And while it is at it, the U.S. government could put the value on all coins so that they are user-friendly in any languagei.e. 10 cents.
