A while back I was on a CTA Brown Line train when a man got on and started talking aloud in a threatening manner. If you didn’t listen to the words you’d think he was just rapping, but the words talked about killing, hitting, knifing people and other alarming subjects.
I tried several times to contact the train operator, using the button and intercom in the train. I got absolutely no response and changed cars as soon as I could.
What if CTA personnel ignore your emergency call? (“Your job: Step Up,” July 8 column by Kyra Kyles.) Will you have any faith that they’ll respond in the future?
I don’t.
