Cedric Benson finally made it on an NFL field in uniform Sunday and gave a glimpse of what may be coming.
In his several snaps, all in the fourth quarter, the Bears rookie running back had three carries for 10 yards and delivered a solid block to pick up a Washington Redskins blitz.
Asked if Benson would see the field considerably more next Sunday against the Detroit Lions, offensive coordinator Ron Turner’s smile said more than his words: “I would imagine so.”
But Benson wasn’t smiling.
“I didn’t get the job done today,” Benson said. “I was brought here to make big plays. For whatever reason, I didn’t make those.”
Benson’s impression of the NFL?
“Fun,” he said. “I’m still learning.”
