By halftime of Saturday’s win, Notre Dame had a 28-0 lead over Purdue. And quarterback Brady Quinn, who entered the contest averaging 309 yards of total offense, was a big reason why. Against the Boilermakers he came close to matching that total in the first half, racking up 283 yards through the air on 20-for-23 passing, and 17 yards on the ground. He finished with 440 yards. He was 29 of 36 for a career-high 80.5 percent rate. He threw for three touchdowns, giving him 10 straight games with at least one, tying John Huarte’s school record in 1964. . . .
One trend held true Saturday: Since 1982 the winning team in the Notre Dame-Purdue series has scored at least 22 points in every meeting save one–Notre Dame’s 17-0 victory in 1993. . . .
Purdue running back Jerod Void suffered an injury in the first half and didn’t return. . . . Center Bob Morton, who was hurt in Notre Dame’s victory at Washington, did not play Saturday.
