Tom Cain, of Elmhurst, IL, passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2005 at the age of 78. Tom was born in Galva, IL and at the age of 17 enlisted with the Navy to serve his country for the next 4 years in the Pacific Rim. Upon his returned, he enrolled in the Chicago School of Design where he soon mastered packing design. He founded Tom Cain Design in 1968 and operated his business into the late 1990’s. Tom created legendary package designs recognized by consumers the world over. A few of his most notable designs were for Orange Crush International, Wild Turkey, Heath Candy Bars, Jeno’s Pizza and Turtle Wax. Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Cain; his two daughters, Connie Cain and Susan Cain; his son, John Cain; his daughter-in-law, Janan Cain; his son-in-law, Tim Buividas; and Tom’s six grandchildren. A Memorial Service and luncheon will occur on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 314 W Vallette St., Elmhurst IL 60126.
