Mavis L. Elyea, nee Gilpin, age 81, of Darien, beloved wife of the late Robert E.; loving mother of Susan E. (Wayne H.) Glasgow, the late Roberta J. (Thomas) Walters and the late Robert Gilpin; fond sister of Robert Gilpin and sister-in-law to Evelyn Dermott; grandmother of Matthew R. and Jacob F. Walters; aunt of various nieces and nephews. For the past 28 years Mavis was an active member of the Westmont First United Methodist Church, where she had been a member on several committees. She was a former member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church and the Richards Street United Methodist Church of Joliet. Also a former employee of public service and a graduate of Joliet Township High School, Class of 1942. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. until time of Service at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 40 N. Lincoln St., Westmont, IL.
