NEW THIS WEEK

`Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’

Rating: G, my gracious yes.

What it’s about: Daft inventor and his intrepid dog battle voracious veg-eaters in their tiny British town in this stop-motion animated film.

The Kid Attractor Factor: Slapsticky, with lots of jokes for the budding Anglophile.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Let the dog call the shots, don’t be so quick to attribute something to the supernatural and chappies too quick to pull the trigger must have something to hide, what what?

Violence: A dogfight to end all dogfights and a hunter is foiled, time and again, but not without blazing away with his shotgun.

Language: No profanity in this corner of Jolly Olde you-know-where.

Sex: Whatever for?

Drugs: Not bloody likely.

Parents’ advisory: Kid-friendlier than “Corpse Bride,” this ditzy farce aims at the inner 9-year-old in us all.

`In Her Shoes’

Rating: PG-13 for thematic material, language and some sexual content.

What it’s about: Mismatched sisters quarrel and come to terms with their unhappy childhood, all through the help of a grandmother they never knew they had.

The Kid Attractor Factor: Some funny shtick involving dogs, otherwise, it skews older.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Don’t date the boss, don’t steal from your sister and don’t write off your siblings. They’re going to be your kin for as long as you live.

Violence: None.

Language: Profanity.

Sex: A bit.

Drugs: Alcohol is abused.

Parents’ advisory: Pretty tame, but if they’re too young to ogle or want to emulate Cameron Diaz, they’re probably too young for the movie.

RECENTLY OPENED

`The Greatest Game Ever Played’

Rating: PG for brief mild language.

What it’s about: A young man rises from humble beginnings to challenge golf’s aristocracy in this true story about the 1913 U.S. Open golf championship.

The Kid Attractor Factor: Kids have grown up with young star Shia LaBeouf of “Even Stevens.”

Good lessons/bad lessons: Do not let someone else’s idea of “class” limit what you do with your life.

Violence: None.

Language: Disney tame.

Sex: Disney tame as well.

Drugs: What, in 1913?

Parents’ advisory: A true family film, with excitement, laughs and a message that will appeal to 12-and-unders and their parents.

`Into the Blue’

Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of action violence, drug material, some sexual content and language.

What it’s about: Divers find a drug dealer’s booty in a sunken cargo plane, and he wants it back.

The Kid Attractor Factor: Hot cast in action and skimpy swimwear.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Never “deal” with drug-dealers. Hold on to your “integrity” until a big score arrives.

Violence: Oh yes.

Language: Profanity, a bit.

Sex: Jessica Alba sopping wet in a bikini. And in her underwear. And Ashley Scott barely covers up.

Drugs: The entire subtext.

Parents’ advisory: Violent, but nothing that isn’t on TV; suitable for 13-and-up.
