– Volkswagen of America has announced pricing for the 2006 Beetle and Beetle convertible. The 2.5-liter Beetle, which got a freshening, will start at $17,180 and the TDI at $18,390. The 2.5-liter convertible is priced from $21,920. The destination charge on all Beetles remains at $615. The 2.5-liter is a more powerful, 150-horsepower 5-cylinder engine and electronic stability control is standard.
– Ford’s last Excursion sport-utility vehicle has rolled off the assembly line as the automaker is shifting its focus to higher-mileage vehicles. Ford sold 50,000 of the sport-utility vehicles since 2000.
