Jack Ellison, age 94, passed away on Sept. 9, 2005 at Montgomery Place Retirement Home. He was a longtime resident of Chicago. Beloved husband of Emily W. Ellison, nee Whipple; loving father of David H. Ellison and Jane R. Ellison; proud grandfather of Marisha, Noah and Allison Palm and Sean, Rachel and Jesse Ellison. Mr. Ellison will be remembered for his contributions as teacher and principal of the Francis W. He shared the spirit of progressive education with the numerous new teachers that he mentored over the years. During his retirement, Mr. Ellison volunteered his time generously to social and political causes, including many years as board member of SGA: Youth and Family Services (formerly Scholarship and Guidance). He shared his love of classical music and photography with his friends and family until the end. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Montgomery Place Retirement Community, 5550 S. South Shore Dr., Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Francis W. Parker School Scholarship Fund or to SGA: Youth and Family Services would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements by Elegy Cremation and Memorial Services, 877-565-7070.
