Letter writer Jay Aldrich asks that evolutionary theory be exposed to valid criticism.
I agree.
And in fact, evolutionary theory, like all scientific theory, is constantly exposed to criticism.
But Aldrich wants evolution to be exposed to criticism from intelligent design in biology classes. That is not an appropriate venue for criticism from this quarter, because intelligent design does not offer valid criticism of evolution as determined by the science of biology.
After all, he asks for the discussion to occur in science classes.
A better venue would be in philosophy classes, where intelligent design itself, as well as evolution, could be exposed to valid criticism, unrestrained by scientific methodology but only by rational argument.
