Summit police were continuing Saturday to look for the gunman in the fatal shooting of a DePaul University student.
Roxanne Diaz , 22, who had recently moved to Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood from her parents’ home in the 8700 block of Dartmouth Road, Palos Hills, was shot around 5 a.m. Friday outside a home in the 7600 block of West 62nd Street in Summit, police said.
Diaz’s aunt, Lourdes Onate, said police visited the Palos Hills house Saturday, inquiring about Diaz’s friends.
“Basically they wanted to know her personality or why she would be in these clubs associated with gang activity,” Onate said.
Diaz was visiting a friend in Summit when she was killed, police said.
The junior accounting major at DePaul had worked for two years as an administrative assistant in the dean of students office, said Dean Greg MacVarish. “She was a very conscientious, dedicated and loyal worker that would always go above and beyond,” MacVarish said.
