Right-hander Cliff Politte says simulated games are in the plans this week for White Sox relievers, who have barely worked in the postseason. He said he wanted to throw back-to-back days to get his arm going. This layoff certainly stands as a change from the regular season for Politte, who worked 68 games, Dustin Hermanson (57), Luis Vizcaino (65), Damaso Marte (66) and even closer Bobby Jenks (32). Only Neal Cotts (69 games) pitched in the ALCS, going two-thirds of an inning in the opener. “Hats off to those [starters],” an amazed Politte said. “As much as I wanted to work, I’m happy that I didn’t have to work. This experience is everything that you live for in baseball.”
