Four students, two of them alleged gang members, got into a fight Friday in a hallway at Bartlett High School that slightly injured one of the teens and a bystander, Bartlett police said.

The fight occurred in the main corridor of the school between two 17-year-olds, Luis Banuelos and Alejandro Pareds, both of Bartlett, and two 16-year-olds with alleged ties to the Latin Kings gang. The fight was over the affiliation with the gang, Bartlett police said.

Pareds suffered a wound in the face after one of the juveniles stuck him across the nose with a pen. He was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, treated and released. One of the juveniles also struck a female bystander in the face with an elbow.

Banuelos and Pareds were charged with misdemeanor counts of reckless conduct and mob action and are scheduled to appear in court Dec. 6. The 16-year-olds were petitioned into DuPage County Juvenile Court.

All four could face disciplinary action from the school, police said.
