– Leading New York’s Halloween parade Monday will be 10-year-old trumpeter Glenn Hall III of New Orleans, whose house and horn were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. When he arrived in New York last week, the grand marshal got a new trumpet from the Manhattan-based Jazz Foundation of America.
– “What the Snow Brings,” a movie by Kichitaro Negishi that portrays the lives of two brothers, won the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix for best film Sunday at the Tokyo International Film Festival, the China Post reports.
– The white suit John Lennon wore on the “Abbey Road” album cover sold for $118,000 at a Las Vegas auction, while the Austin Princess he drove in the movie “Imagine” went for $150,000. Anthony Pugliese of World Films bought the suit, and the car went to a private Japanese investor, said Darren Julien, president of Julien’s Auctions, the firm that held the weekend auction.
