EVENT OF THE WEEK
Talk on tougher environmental law
The Chicago Bar Association’s Environmental Law Committee hosts a luncheon seminar discussing the new Community Right-to-Know Law.
In July 2005, Gov. Rod Blagojevich signed into law the new Illinois Community Right-to-Know Law, which greatly strengthens the public’s right to know about environmental hazards in communities throughout the state. The law also gives the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency sweeping powers to order the cleanup of contaminated property.
Speakers include John Watson and Sheila Deely of Gardner Carton & Douglas law firm, and Scott Phillips of the Illinois EPA.
The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the offices of Gardner Carton & Douglas, 191 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 3700. Lunch will be served.
