The kind of violence depicted in 50 Cent’s film debut “Get Rich or Die Tryin’ ” spilled over into real life as a man was shot dead after one screening and several others closed early after a skirmish.
One man was shot at least three times Wednesday night after he got into an argument with another man inside a Loews multiplex just east of Pittsburgh.
“I feel for the victim’s family in this situation,” Fif said Friday on ABC’s “The View.” “But you know, these weren’t kids. This was a 30-year-old man [who] had a dispute with three other guys.”
The R-rated film, which opened Wednesday in 1,652 theaters nationwide, earned $12.5 million this weekend.
Elsewhere:
– More than 100 people were involved in a brawl near a Providence, R.I., theater on Friday that police believed was linked to “Get Rich.” Five late showings were canceled and six people were arrested, including a mall security officer.
– Another theater chain, National Amusements, decided to end midnight showings in a Toledo, Ohio, neighborhood where rioting occurred last month.
