Wanna-be Southern rocker Bo Bice looks like a fairly attractive woman. The “American Idol” finalist’s brown mane is lush and long; his blue eyes flash a come-hither look; even his soul patch and stubble is kind of drag-kingy. You understand how producer Clive Davis plans to market his new charge when you see the so-pretty wall poster that screams “Tiger Beat.” Then there’s Jon Bon Jovi, who co-writes the harmlessly catchy breakup song “Nothing Without You.” Bice does best with the numbers he wrote himself. For the most part, though, “The Real Thing” is a slickly packaged milquetoast affair.

RATING: 2 VOLUME LEVELS.
