– Bucking the overwhelming “Brokeback Mountain” awards juggernaut, the San Diego Film Critics have given their top prize to Peter Jackson’s “King Kong,” shutting out Ang Lee’s drama entirely, Zap2it.com reports. Beyond handing the best picture win to “Kong,” though, the San Diego reviewers threw their support behind the much smaller “Capote,” giving Philip Seymour Hoffman yet another best actor prize for his performance as the title character.

– Don Ho, who had an experimental heart procedure in Thailand earlier this month, has returned home to Honolulu. “He is continuing his rest and recuperation at an undisclosed location,” the “Tiny Bubbles” crooner’s publicist, Donna Jung, said Monday. The 75-year-old Ho underwent a new treatment on Dec. 6 that hasn’t been approved in the U.S.

– Celebrities mobbed a West End nightclub in London for a glitzy bachelor party to toast the upcoming civil union between Elton John and David Furnish. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Elizabeth Hurley, Bryan Adams and Kid Rock were among those who streamed into the gala event Monday night in Soho’s Too2Much, where shirtless waiters wearing black ties and riding boots served guests flutes of champagne.
