Mixing humor with politics is new territory for Jim Carrey, whose comic style is more about frenzied tomfoolery.

With the exception of “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” when Carrey has tried to get serious in dark comedies or dramas, his audience hasn’t followed. The actor tries to have it both ways in “Fun With Dick and Jane.” The film is a white-collar satire that doubles as a broad comedy and a pointed attack on profiteering corporations and the people who run them.

Here’s a look at some of Carrey’s hits and misses:

Fun with Jim

– “Bruce Almighty” (’03)

– “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (’00)

– “Me, Myself & Irene” (’00)

– “Batman Forever” (’95)

– “Dumb & Dumber” (’94)

Seriously uninterested
