Britney Spears’ guest spot on “Will & Grace” was supposed to create some buzz for the fading show, but not buzz like this.
NBC was flooded with complaints after the network sent out a news release saying Spears (right) would play a conservative Christian who stars in a cooking segment called “Cruci-fixins,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review report. The conservative American Family Association publicly objected to the episode description and called for a boycott.
The backlash made NBC backpedal. “The story line will not contain a Christian characterization at all,” a subsequent statement read, adding that the previous release contained “erroneous information.”
