Why does the Bears organization continue to stick it to its most loyal fan base? I’ve been a tailgater for 15 years. When the Waldron Deck became a lottery, it was taken away from the true fans. It became a commodity to be sold at auction instead of a prize to be awarded to the best fans who got there first. Instead of seeing the error of its ways, the Park District cites this as a reason to triple the cost of the prime parking spots? That’s a crime.
When the games didn’t count in December, we were there. The Rick Mirer era, we were there. The Bears told us how long we were season ticket-holders didn’t matter, but took our PSL money anyway, and we were there. Now the Park District figures it can squeeze $100 out of some of the parking slots . . . if the Bears let this happen, it’s like telling me they’ve had enough of me.
Ask Dollar Bill Wirtz what it feels like when you continue to alienate your fan base. It’s time to consider the value Bears fans bring to the team and not just how many dollars can be squeezed from us.
