Top of her list
A note on today’s Uncorked column (“War of the Wines II,” June 7): We were in Napa Valley in 1975 and toured Stag’s Leap Winery, where we were able not only to taste the French/California winner from ’73 but also to purchase a limit of two bottles of same.
Although the wine is long gone, consumed on some “supposed” special occasion (like it was Friday night!), the memory lingers on. If they redid the test and Stag’s Leap didn’t win, I’m happy with the taste we had.

He’ll pass on the fish
The unsightly, gory and unpalatable photographs (“Shrine to the Sea,” June 14) of red tuna flesh, the eyes of dead fish and pictures of whole tuna provided me with positive reinforcement to remain vegetarian. I abstain from meat, poultry and fish for animal welfare reasons rather than health-conscious criteria. I could only fathom that a covert cannibal could find the red tuna flesh to be an alluring and satiating food to eat. Whatever happened to the Garden of Eden dietary edict?
