Judging by all the votes, we couldn’t tell if you wanted to see these singles in our new Reader Review crew, the Alfresco Flirts, or actually date them yourselves.
But when we brought our 10 finalists to last Friday’s Summer Lovin’ event at the Museum of Contemporary art (see photos on metromix.com), we knew it was a little bit of both. Special shoutout to Saam who really worked the crowd; he was making eyes all over that museum!
They flirted their asses off, and more than 22,000 votes later, we’ve got four fun and sassy singles to show us a good time this summer: Anna, Chris, Jesse and Kim.
For the next four weeks, you can read about their adventures as they scope Chicago’s alfresco singles scene and dish on where to find the hottest hookups. Know of a place they should go? Post your suggestions on our “Out with it” graffiti board on metromix.com.
Let the eyelash-batting and air kiss-blowing begin! But first, meet the metromix Alfresco Flirts!
Chris Szwiec, 27,
MARKETING ACCOUNT MANAGER
Neighborhood: Wicker Park/Bucktown
Single for: A few years
Bad breakup? It wasn’t pretty. The short of it is: I graduated college, I went abroad, I had to make a decision.
My type of girl: Has white teeth and can play kickball.
Who should make the first move? I’m all for the girl approaching. She should be funny, confident and maybe independent, like Destiny’s Child.
I’m a good wingman because: I’ve got plenty of stories: I used to drive the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile. Plus, I lived in Spain and like to wear ’80s T-shirts like Billy Idol and Toto to get people talking.
Anna Poston, 24,
FASHION DESIGNER
Neighborhood: Lincoln Park
Single for: A year and a half-ish
Bad breakup? Oh, yeah! Let’s just say he worked harder on his relationship with Jim Beam than on us.
My type of guy is: Exotic, blue-eyed and adventurous.
Who should make the first move? Most guys who approach me are creepy. I’m a bum magnet. I’d rather approach and do the quality control.
I’m a good wingwoman because: I know how to be backup: Keep the conversation from reaching a dull moment, occupy friends of the target and help your friend feel comfortable. I love seeing my friends happy, so I’ll gladly take one for the team!
Jesse Kreider, 28,
ACCOUNT MANAGER
Neighborhood: Lincoln Park
Single for: Um, Christmas ’04.
Bad breakup? Oooh, yeah. She called me from Derek Jeter’s boat!
My type of girl is: Unique. Hot and unique.
Who should make the first move? The girl. That’s how I get into most of my relationships. (Editor’s note: Did you hear that, ladies?)
I’m a good wingman because: I’m much better and much more creative when chatting up someone else for a friend. That could be why all of my friends are married, engaged or living with their girl, and I’m living with a pool table and a flat-screen TV.
Kim Siders, 29,
INTERNET SALES MANAGER
Neighborhood: Old Town
Single for: About a year
Bad breakup? No. But he’s still ignoring me. Before that, I had a track record for never having been broken up with. But it’s good; now I know what it feels like.
My type of guy is: Tall, fun, well-traveled and has good teeth.
Who should make the first move? It could go either way. If I approach a guy, I go for funny.
I’m a good wingwoman because: I can chat it up with anyone and genuinely love meeting new people. Plus, anyone who went to school at UCSB knows how to work a crowd.
