A public hearing was held last week as part of the preliminary process to dedicate the Cherry Street right-of-way to developers, which would allow them to share an ingress and egress through the area of the Arlington/Thorndale resubdivision.
Nicole Aranas, community development director, said access would be provided for the Tall Oaks Manor condominium development, which was approved earlier this year.
Landmark Custom Homes, a developer from Roselle, is building the condominiums, Aranas said.
Mayor Gigi Gruber said the other party sharing the entrance owns a three-story commercial office building on the site and wishes to possibly develop a hotel or some other building on another parcel nearby.
“The county owns Thorndale Road and they have already approved a cut entrance for the condominium project,” Gruber said.
“The issue really was that the commercial office property would need a cut of their own, and with the dedication of the right-of-way, it can be shared.”
The matter will be forwarded later this month to the Village Board meeting as a committee of the whole.
