Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
Shouldn’t sports organizations be role models for their youthful fandom? White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen slurs sports columnist Jay Mariotti, and Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf labels him a piece of garbage. They act worse than than undisciplined children mouthing coarse taunts in Little League.
They don’t know how to respond to criticism without crude and vulgar comebacks, regardless of the source or what’s said. I think parents should decide if they want to continue supporting this franchise, whose lack of civility could have an effect on the character growth of children.
And where are the players on this ? I couldn’t imagine a Billy Pierce of my youth or the gentlemanly Jim Thome approving of such remarks.
