Fred Schaefer, an 81-year-old Grayslake resident, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born on March 15, 1925 to Fritz and Martha Schaefer, nee Spurgat. Beloved husband of 57 years to Charlotte Schaefer, nee Stopp; father to Paul (Karen) Schaefer of Sacramento, CA and Linda (Roger) Visconti of Fox Lake; grandfather to Gina, Rebecca, and Christian; greatgrandfather to Jolyn, Jarrett, and Jonah; uncle to Eric Strasburger. His sister, Edith Strasburger, and aforementioned parents precede him in death. Fred was a lifetime member of the Old Timer’s Baseball Club, and owner/operator of the Kedzie Dental Lab in Chicago for nearly 50 years. Friends of the family may visit on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, also at Strang Funeral Chapel. The committal will follow, reconvening at 11:45 a.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines.
