I LOVE …

… restaurants with su-u-uper limited menus of only things they do well.

… the fine food and ambiance at Chef’s Station (915 Davis St., Evanston).

… bars that post the daily sports section in the men’s room.

… the Grind Coffeehouse [4613 N. Lincoln Ave.]. Great place for writers to woodshed on laptops. Java and smoothies are top-notch.

I HATE …

… the attitude at the new Puma Store [1051 N. Rush St.]. The music is beyond loud, and the sales staff looks and acts like they are on a reality show. I tried to shop there recently. When I asked if it was possible to turn the music down a bit, the response was “I’m not allowed to change the volume because our management wants it that loud.” Memo to management: The store was filled with tourists. Lose the attitude or lose the neighborhood customers.

— Julie Paradise, Chicago

… when indifferent baggers at produce markets and grocery stores throw produce into the bag completely oblivious to the idea they are damaging the produce when it hits the hard surface.

— Patrick Cogan, Deerfield
