” ‘Flicka’–which is often very beautiful-looking, but is gracelessly directed–is a step back for McGraw after his very credible turn in ‘Friday Night Lights.’ But it’s also a girl-and-her-horse movie, and as such dwells in a mysterious nether region known only to girls. And probably horses. The rest of us won’t get it.”
