Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Many years ago the Coca-Cola people had a great idea. They put together an extremely large a cappella choir composed of people of every nationality, every religion and every race.

The idea was to show the world that people can and should work together to accomplish a given task.

All things considered, isn’t that what America was about at that moment in time?

The idea somehow or other never took hold. What a shame! Well they tried. People were proud to be Americans then.

How could that beautiful thought go up in smoke?

Why is it no longer fashionable to be proud of our heritage?

We missed the boat, and perhaps it just sailed on into eternity, never to be heard from again.

The United States of America is no longer united. It seems as though it is now composed of one small group or another demanding their ideas be incorporated into the daily lives of each of us.

It is not just the red and blue states.

It is more like a box of crayons with more colors than you could possibly name.

It is almost election time again and shortly you will be seeing maps with each state colored either red or blue. Does this mean that every person living in that state is either a Republican or Democrat?

I do not think that is true, but is that not what you are being told to believe? For every idea one group can come up with, there is a counter concept to resolve the same problem. Think about it.

Our generation is not going to solve much of anything now. We are leaving it to our young people to come up with answers.

They no doubt will, as they always have in the past.

Maybe our generation ought to give some thought as to what we are asking of our grandchildren. How nice it would be if they could teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.
