Chicagosports.com asked:
Who is your most underappreciated Chicago athletes? Here’s what the readers said:
– Mark Grace led MLB in hits and doubles in the 1990s and helped win a World Series with the key hit off of the best reliever of all time.
– Lee Arthur Smith. Heck of a reliever.
– Joe Crede deserved the Gold Glove this year.
– Frank Thomas. In a sport filled with roiders, cheaters, and fakes, Frank was and still is the greatest White Sox ever. Period.
– An undrafted free agent, Mike Tomczak developed into a solid QB who played 15 years.
– Kyle Orton. Fourth-round rookie thrust into starting QB role and all he does is contribute to 10 victories.
– Denis Savard went underappreciated as a Blackhawk. Probably overshadowed by Gretzky.
