The Knicks withstood their third overtime game in 10 days and their third this season of two or more overtimes, outlasting Richard Hamilton and his 51 points to beat the Pistons 151-145 Wednesday in triple overtime.
Channing Frye forced the third overtime with a buzzer-beating jumper, Jamal Crawford took over from there and the Knicks improved to 4-0 in OT this season.
“We don’t want to give Coach a heart attack, but we have shown we can win in these type of situations,” said Crawford, who scored nine of his 26 in the third OT.
– In beating the Bobcats 114-107 Wednesday night, the Wizards became the first NBA team in 12 seasons to score 106 or more points in 12 consecutive games.
– Nets guard Jason Kidd was fined $20,000 by the NBA on Wednesday for a postgame rant in which he referred to officials Jim Clark, Tom Washington and Eric Lewis as “three blind mice.”
