Brady Quinn didn’t look like a top-five pick in Notre Dame’s 41-14 Sugar Bowl shellacking by LSU.

But ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said the performance (15 of 35, 148 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions) should not affect Quinn’s status in the NFL draft.

“He didn’t hurt himself,” he said. “It was more a matter of LSU being so much better athletically.”

If LSU’s JaMarcus Russell turns pro, Kiper said he could be a fit for Oakland, which picks first. Detroit could select Quinn second.

“Oakland’s vertical passing game fits better with Russell,” he said. “With what (offensive coordinator) Mike Martz does in Detroit, spreading the field and making quick passes, that’s Brady Quinn.”
