Robert M. Sydell, a five year resident of Covenant Village (Northbrook), died at age 91 on Dec. 22, 2006. He and his late wife, Jane, resided in Wilmette for 32 years and in Glenview for 27 years. Mr. Sydell was born Nov. 3, 1915 in Chicago. He was a lifelong employee of Badger Murphy Foods (formerly DeMand Food Service) in Chicago. He attended Northwestern University, joined the Navy during WWII, belonged to the Wilmette Lions Club, Short Flaggers Model Railroad Club and Helping Hands of Glenview. Survivors include his sons, Jack (Marge) of Monroe, NC and Gil (Ann) of Hendersonville, NC; his daughter, Judith (Grant) Peirce of Kildeer; grandchildren, Robert (Marguerite) Sydell of Peoria, AZ, Micahel (Karri) Sydell of Chandler, AZ, Matthew (Rebecca) Pierce of Barrington, Blake (Jenelle) Pierce of Barrington, Amy (Davidson) Morse of Arlington, TX, Jarrett (Beth) Sydell of White Plaines, NY and Kathryn Sydell of Arlington, VA; great-grandfather of Adriana, Gabriella, Jacob, Benjamin Sydell, Kyle and Connor Pierce, Aidan, Brendan and Virginia Morse. Mr. Sydell had two sisters, Audrey Sydell and Lois Harris, who preceded him in death. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007 at Covenant Village located at 2625 Techney, Northbrook. Interment will include the family members. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 30 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 2015, Chicago, IL 60602. Arrangements were handled by Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 847-251-8200.
