– When will “Crossing Jordan” be returning? -Marlene Jordan, Billings, Mont.

After NBC announced Jill Hennessy’s show would be back in October, the network changed its mind and pulled the series’ return just days before it was supposed to air. As it has turned out, “Jordan” will be back when its sixth-season premiere originally was planned, after “Sunday Night Football” ends for the season; look for the drama to resume Jan. 14, with Jordan (Hennessy) still on the run while under suspicion of having killed her boyfriend.

– What happened to “Lost”? -Carol Judd, Vernon, Ariz.

Rather than take another chance on the ire of fans who complained about too many repeats last season, ABC decided to split the series’ current third season into two parts. Taye Diggs’ “Day Break” was meant to fill the slot in the interim, but its less-than-desired ratings abbreviated its run. “Lost” is slated to return with fresh episodes Feb. 7 – but with the new sitcoms “The Knights of Prosperity” and “In Case of Emergency” now filling its former hour, “Lost” will air one hour later than it did previously, bringing up the end of ABC’s Wednesday prime-time lineup.

– Who is the little girl who plays Paige on the ABC show “Brothers & Sisters”? She looks like she could be Reese Witherspoon’s daughter. Is she? -Allison Smits, Columbus, Ohio

No, although she did appear with Witherspoon (whose daughter’s name is Ava) in both “Walk the Line” and “Just Like Heaven.” The very young actress in question is Kerris Lilla Dorsey, and she also has had roles in such shows as “Scrubs” and “Monk.”

– Did Jennifer Love Hewitt play the teenage daughter on a short-lived series called “The Byrds of Paradise,” set in Hawaii? -Allen Waldron, Crystal River, Fla.

She did. The 1994 ABC show, in which she was cast as one of Timothy Busfield’s children, actually was her fourth series. Previously, Hewitt had been a regular on “Kids Incorporated,” “Running Wilde” and “Shaky Ground.” The season after “Byrds,” Hewitt joined “Party of Five,” and the television career of CBS’ current “Ghost Whisperer” really started taking off then.
