News Corp. head Rupert Murdoch may have been a little too eager to see his favorite Kazakh gold mine return to the big screen.

The media mogul announced Thursday that Sacha Baron Cohen had signed a deal to make a sequel to “Borat,” surprising news given that Cohen himself has said it would be difficult to play Borat again now that his identity is so well-known.

But Cohen’s camp later said there was no such deal, and a spokesman for 20th Century Fox told Variety that Murdoch “was under a mistaken impression” that they’d signed a deal.
