10 a.m. – 2 p.m. US/MEXICO-ETHANOL — The Environmental and Energy Study Institute and the Heinrich Boll Foundation host “Biofuels and Tortillas: A US-Mexican Tale of Chances and Challenges,” a discussion on the effects of U.S. demand for ethanol on world markets, specifically Mexican tortilla markets. 2 p.m. ANTI-WAR PROTEST — Organizers of Saturday’s March on the Pentagon hold a news conference.

4 p.m. IRAQ-ITALY — Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena who was held hostage in Iraq discusses her ordeal and rescue, in which an Italian general rescuing her was killed by U.S. forces.

7 p.m. CHRISTIANS-IRAQ WAR — Christians, evangelicals, mainline Protestants, and Catholics from more than 40 states gather at Washington National Cathedral to mark the fourth anniversary of the Iraq War. The worship service will be followed by a candlelight procession to the White House. Participants include: Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners/Call to Renewal and author of “God’s Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesnt Get It;” Dr. Bernice Powell Jackson, President for the North American Conference of the World Council of Churches; and Rick Ufford-Chase, executive director of Presbyterian Peace Fellowship and former moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church.
