Celebrity-spotting at college games has become a sport all unto itself. It seems you can take the actor out of the university, but you can’t take the university out of the actor. At least it looks that way for a few stars that remain true to their alma maters despite their Hollywood stature.

Higher education isn’t on a lot of actors’ to-do lists, but we salute those who’ve at least attempted to get that diploma. (Kudos to Ashley Judd for getting her degree from the University of Kentucky this year — she’s been one class shy of commencement for 17 years since she left the school in 1990, according to The Associated Press, but earned a bachelor’s degree in French.)

And as graduation season begins, we thought it an opportune time to round up celebrity super-fans and their schools. Just don’t ask if they all actually graduated …

Ashley Judd

University of Kentucky

She was a regular during this year’s Final Four tourney and is often pictured in a Kentucky hat.

Matthew McConaughey

University of Texas

He once held box seats for Texas games and has been seen in the stands at major events.

Will Ferrell

University of So. California

He famously debated McConaughey when USC and Texas played in the 2005 college football championship game. He also recently kicked it with the school’s swim team for a fundraiser.

Ashton Kutcher

University of Iowa

We doubt Ash makes it out to the cornfields often, but we’ve seen him sporting an Iowa T-shirt.

Stephen Colbert

Northwestern University

Granted, he may not look like the typical super-fan, but he did lead the Wildcats’ homecoming parade last year.

Natalie Portman

Harvard University

She was at that game when Harvard won the championship — who are we kidding? Harvard doesn’t win.
