Now you’ve gone and done it, America. You let the best singer on “American Idol” get kicked off Wednesday night.
But that’s just how it works, people: America votes, someone goes home. After almost 60 million votes were counted, Melinda Doolittle got the bad news from Ryan Seacrest.
Many would agree it was a shocking outcome for Melinda, a personal favorite of Simon Cowell’s who was considered to be the most consistently great performer on the show.
Alas, she was bested by beat-boxin’ Blake Lewis and big-voiced Jordin Sparks, the two of whom will go at it in next week’s blockbuster finale. “Congratulations to you two. My commiserations, Melinda, ’cause you are one heck of a singer,” said a glum Cowell, who covered his face with his hands upon hearing the news.
Who will America crown next week? If you ask us, it seems like Jordin has the best shot.
