Florence Gentilcore kept the books for Christian TV station WCPX-Ch. 38 for 20 years and remained busy in retirement as a member of three seniors’ groups at churches in her South Side neighborhood.

Mrs. Gentilcore, 82, died of complications from a fall on Thursday, May 17, in Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, said her daughter-in-law, Margaret Gentilcore, editorial coordinator at the Chicago Tribune.

Mrs. Gentilcore was born Florence Bus, in the McKinley Park neighborhood.

. She started at the station in the mid-1970s as a volunteer, but proved so dependable that she was offered a full-time job, said Jerry Rose, the station’s former president.

Other survivors include three sons, James, Raymond and Daniel; a daughter-in-law, Melody; two sisters, Bernice Jedrysiak and Adeline Zaczyk; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Czachor Funeral Home, 3661 S. Wood St., Chicago. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 3528 S. Hermitage Ave., Chicago.
