Perry Lucian Fuller, 84, died on May 10 of complications from heart surgery. A nationally renowned Chicago trial lawyer, esteemed legal educator and dedicated Cook County civic leader for more than 40 years, with an extensive history of colorful and groundbreaking litigation and of local, statewide and national public service in politics, law, journalism, academics, civil rights, community service and philanthropy, Mr. Fuller was the last surviving Name Partner of Hinshaw Culbertson LLP, a/k/a Hinshaw, Culbertson, Moelmann, Hoban and Fuller, headquartered in Chicago and long recognized as one of the largest and most prominent law firms in the U.S. He was born October 26, 1922, in Central City, Nebraska, and grew up in Hastings, Neb., son of Perry L. Fuller, Sr. and Ruth Howorth Fuller. He served heroically in World War II as a U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant bomber pilot in the Pacific Theater and as a USMC Captain, flight instructor and military prosecutor during the Korean Conflict. He earned a B.A. in 1947 from the University of Nebraska and a scholarship to the University of Chicago Law School (J.D. 1949, completed at the University of Nebraska Law School). Mr. Fuller is survived by his daughter, Leslie Fuller; their mutual longtime companion, Penny Fuller; cousins Donald Howorth and Susan Howorth Zbrozek; dozens of nieces and nephews; and scores of deeply cherished friends and colleagues.
