BARRINGTON

The Barrington Area Arts Council is seeking two high school students with a strong interest in art to work as summer interns on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The position is unpaid and interns will assist with office work and shows and learn the basics of how a non-profit organization works. Interns also will be asked to volunteer at the Summer Art Fair and the 4th of July Run for the Arts. A band camp for 5th graders will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 30 through Aug. 3 in Heineman Middle School, 725 Academic Drive, Algonquin. Woodstock High School’s building and trade students will hold an open house from 5 to 8 p.m. June 1 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 2 at the two-story home they built at 426 Stewart Ave., Woodstock. The home has a great room, a dining area, three bedrooms, a full-basement and a finished garage. Oak cabinets are featured in the kitchen, bath and laundry areas. The District 211 Gifted Education Project Expo will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Rd., Palatine. More than 130 students from all five high schools will display projects. The expo is free and open to the public. McHENRY COUNTY COLLEGE

An orientation to educate parents about their students’ transition from high school to college will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 4 at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. To register, call 815-479-7712.

Kids and College program will hold classes this summer on the college campus, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake; Richmond Grade School, 5815 Broadway, Richmond; and Locust Elementary School, 539 S. More than 100 classes — topics include aquatics, time management, snakes, digital photography, myths, Chinese brush painting, ACT prep — for 1st grade through high school have been scheduled.
