Leaving on bad terms isn’t limited to contentious characters like Rosie. A slew of stars have left their respective shows in a huff. Here, RedEye’s sampling:

Isaac Hayes

The oh-so-deep-voiced singer and Scientologist quit voicing his character Chef on the animated “South Park” amid reports that he was fed up with the show’s mocking portrayal of religion, specifically Scientology.

Suzanne Somers

Chrissy, the perky bimbo on “Three’s Company” was no more after Somers reportedly quit after contract negotiations. The show promptly replaced her with another short shorts-wearing blond.

David Letterman

After Jay Leno was named to succeed Johnny Carson on NBC’s “Tonight” show, the jilted Letterman left the network and started his own late-night chatfest, “Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS.

David Caruso

After one very successful season as Det. John Kelly, Caruso was said to leave “NYPD Blue” to try his hand at being a movie star. That didn’t go so well.
